Forget all the critics’ hyperbole, with all their adjectives lurching & stumbling over themselves. frankly, the decades of experience in conducting this symphony just isn’t there in this Fischer recording. As nice (indeed polite!) as it is, this is tame compared to Bernstein, Abbado or Haitink! Next time, I’ll ignore the critics, & stick with the known. Two stars seems a little stingy, but I just can’t bring myself to click a third star; it’s just not that stellar.
