Description This promotional postcard was sent out by The Sunday Dispatch just after war was declared and Winston Churchill was returned as First Lord of the Admiralty. It features the legendary image of Churchill on the steps of the Admiralty with gas mask and despatch boxes, the morning of 4 September 1939, his first full day back as First Lord. The pre-printed holograph-styled message on the verso reads: “Due to the exceptional demand, you may have difficulty purchasing ‘The Sunday Dispatch’. If this is your convenience, will you please let me know?” -The Editor ‘Sunday Dispatch.'” The card is in virtually mint condition.
