Description The memoirs of William Henry Beveridge, a British economist, noted progressive and social reformer best known for his 1942 report, “Social Insurance and Allied Services” (remembered as “The Beveridge Report”) which became the basis for Britain’s post-World War II welfare state under the Labour government elected in 1945. An authority on unemployment insurance from early in his career, Beveridge served under Winston Churchill on the Board of Trade as Director of Churchill’s newly created labour exchanges. This is a very good copy of the First American edition, without dust jacket. The contents are fine.
