Description 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L Power Stroke Diesel Engine Coolant Thermostat AP63498 Alliant Power part number AP63498 is an engine coolant thermostat for 2008-2010 Ford trucks with the 6.4L Power Stroke  diesel engine. This is the thermostat that regulates the engine coolant temperature. The thermostat stays closed and does not allow coolant to flow through the radiator until the coolant reaches 192 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the coolant reaches that temperature, the thermostat opens and the coolant flows through the radiator and is cooled by the airflow across the radiator fins. If the coolant temperature gets too high, the fan clutch is engaged and even more air is drawn across the radiator.
